First introduced to the market in 1985, the Honda Rebel 250 has a classic design that has remained virtually unchanged from the 1985 version to the 2016 version, which was the last time the Rebel 250 was produced and sold on the market.
Because production was discontinued in 2016, the Honda Rebel 250 motorcycles from the early models are now considered rare in the Vietnamese market. They are only available for collectors or for those who have a strong passion for Honda’s legendary Cruiser line.
For example, Mr. Quang Tú, a motorcycle collector in Hanoi, owns a limited edition gold-plated Honda Rebel 250 from the first production in 1985. This motorcycle is now considered a rare find in Vietnam.

In an interview with Vietnamnet’s motorcycle section, Mr. Tú said: “This motorcycle belongs to a limited production edition from 1985. The gold-plated details on the motorcycle are original and 100% authentic, plated by the Japanese manufacturer. Despite being 34 years old, the motorcycle has only traveled 4,550km. It was officially imported by the previous owner, who was a collector and passed it on to me.”

According to Mr. Tú, the Honda Rebel 250 motorcycles are equipped with a 234cc engine shared from the Nighthawk 250, with the durability of a straight-twin engine and a deep, warm exhaust sound.

The original engine has a power output of 16 horsepower, with a top speed of 110 km/h. Shifting gears is smooth and easy, and the motorcycle accelerates steadily. The Rebel 250 handles well even in traffic jams. With a weight of 150kg and a low center of gravity, it is comfortable to ride at an average speed of 80 km/h.
The Rebel 250 has ideal dimensions, weight, and seat height for a wide range of riders. The wheelbase of the motorcycle is 1,450mm, and it weighs around 150kg. The seat height is only 600mm from the ground, making it easy to control the motorcycle, even for riders with a modest stature.

The motorcycle is currently being offered for sale at a price of $10,000 (about 220 million Vietnamese Dong). This price is significantly higher than the price of the newest 2016 models in Vietnam (180 million Vietnamese Dong).
“At that time, this motorcycle was worth the equivalent of several gold bars. However, not everyone could afford an officially imported motorcycle. I have a passion for motorcycles and enjoy searching for rare finds, which is how I acquired it. There were a few similar motorcycles that were sold for up to $20,000 (about 450 million Vietnamese Dong) by other enthusiasts,” Mr. Tú added.
