Bugatti Chiron SS “57 One of One” takes inspiration from the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic unveiled almost a century ago.
While other women in their 70s typically prefer small hatchback models with moderate speeds or handing over the steering wheel to their children and grandchildren, a recent female tycoon has surprised everyone by owning a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport with a power output of over 1,578 horsepower. It is known that this is a birthday gift that her husband thoughtfully purchased for her.
This supercar is named Bugatti Chiron Super Sport “57 One of One” – one of the final Chiron models produced before the discontinuation of the series. What sets it apart is the design inspired by the legendary Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. According to the owner, she first saw the original 57 SC 20 years ago and has since fallen in love with the elegant design of the French-branded classic car. Two decades later, her husband went to Bugatti’s Molsheim facility to order a Chiron Super Sport and requested the addition of unique details from the Type 57 SC Atlantic as a gift for his wife.
“During our customer’s visit, when we passed the scaled model of the Type 57 SC – the first Atlantic and precisely the one that she saw many years ago – we immediately realized that this is the direction we should take,” recalled Jascha Straub, Head of Design of the Sur Mesure department at Bugatti.
“For many years, I have dreamed of redesigning this iconic Type 57 SC Atlantic, so I have had my own ideas about what could be done to honor the most elegant car ever designed. That means we could sit down and start developing the design together to bring the owner’s vision to life,” Straub added.
As Bugatti pointed out, the basic design of the Chiron draws much inspiration from the 57 SC, reflecting the distinctive shape of the legendary car produced in the 1930s. But the unique point of this car is the horseshoe-shaped grille with polished vertical slats and a thicker center air intake, just like on the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Moreover, to ensure the paint colors of the two cars are identical, Bugatti flew to the Guggenheim Museum – where the Type 57 SC Atlantic is exhibited – to check the accuracy.
The five-spoke wheels of the Chiron Super Sport also combine blue paint and chrome plating, similar to the classic 57, and the underside of the rear wing features a hand-drawn pattern of the Type 57 SC Atlantic. Meanwhile, the interior of the car is finished with Gaucho leather and also features blue accents, a “57 One of One” plaque on the center control cluster, and Bugatti’s famous elephant motif on the seatback.
