The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is armored by Klassen to level B6 or B7 (level B6 allows resistance against stronger AK-47 rifle attacks, B7 resists armor-piercing rounds).
Klassen is a German tuning workshop specializing in designing and manufacturing various armored vehicles to serve politicians, celebrities, or anyone with special security needs. Since 2000, Klassen has been providing armored vehicles to banks, law enforcement agencies, business and individual customers worldwide. Recently, the company has introduced an armored modification for the famous luxury SUV Mercedes-AMG G 63.
According to Klassen’s announcement, the car is armored to level B6 or B7 (level B6 allows resistance against stronger AK-47 rifle attacks, level B7 resists armor-piercing rounds). The tires are also reinforced with heavy load-bearing rings.
To increase cabin spaciousness, Klassen’s modified Mercedes-AMG G 63 has an extended wheelbase of 1,016 mm (total of 3,906 mm) compared to the standard version. The overall length of the car is 5,897 mm.
In addition, the suspension system and the entire chassis of the car have been reinforced to ensure the driving performance as the weight of the car has increased significantly after upgrading the armor layers.
Furthermore, Klassen also offers some optional equipment for customers, such as strobe lights, infrared cameras, or an emergency call system EK0 +. Customers can also request the installation of additional features such as warning sirens, loudspeakers, heavy-duty wheels, quick escape equipment, engine compartment fire suppression systems, etc.
The car is still equipped with a twin-turbocharged V8 4.0L engine producing 577 horsepower, 850 Nm of torque. With the standard versions, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. The top speed reaches 220 km/h. For the armored version by Klassen, carrying the additional weight of reinforced steel will slightly decrease these performance figures.
