This morning, a photo of the Hongqi N701 – the limousine of the General Secretary and President of China, Xi Jinping – at a gas station in Vietnam has been circulating on social media. This is the car that will be used during his state visit to Vietnam on December 12th and 13th.

The Hongqi N701 made its first appearance during Xi Jinping’s official visit to Hong Kong in July 2022. Before that, the General Secretary and President of China used a different limousine called the Hongqi N501.

Similar to other cars for national leaders, the Hongqi N701 is also kept secret about its technical specifications. This limousine is predicted to be over 5 meters long. The majority of the length is allocated to the rear seats, which is evident through the large rear windows behind the B-pillar.

Not only is it large in size, but the Hongqi N701 also has an exterior design reminiscent of the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The car is equipped with a large rectangular grille with vertical slats in a waterfall style, neatly arranged horizontal headlights, and an extended central air intake on the front bumper.

In addition, the Hongqi N701 has a distinctive red flag logo on the bonnet and front mudguard. Alongside are large multi-spoke alloy wheels, horizontal reflective strips on the rear bumper, and two trapezoidal exhaust pipes.

To create a luxurious feel, this limousine also features a range of chrome exterior details such as the grille, central air intake border, trims on the side of the car/rear bumper/trunk, window frames, B-pillar, wheels, and door handles. It would not be surprising if the Hongqi N701 also has a armored body and bulletproof glass for security.
The Hongqi N701 is predicted to use either a V8 or V12 petrol engine. The Hongqi brand currently has both types of engines. The V8 engine is a turbocharged 4.0L engine used in the Hongqi LS7, producing a maximum power of 360 horsepower and a peak torque of 550 Nm. Meanwhile, the V12 petrol engine is a 6.0L engine, generating a maximum power of 408 horsepower or 375 horsepower along with a peak torque of 550 Nm.

According to rumors, about 50 Hongqi N701 cars will be produced for Xi Jinping over a period of 10 years. Similar to Cadillac of General Motors, Hongqi is also a brand entrusted with the development of state cars over the years.
In Vietnam, the Hongqi brand is currently officially distributing two car models, including the E-HS9 and H9. The starting prices of these two models are 2.678 billion VND and 1.508 billion VND, respectively.
