Recently, Amazon has announced that it will start selling new cars on its platform in the United States starting in 2024.
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Amazon and Hyundai have signed a partnership agreement for Hyundai to become the first car brand to sell vehicles on Amazon’s online platform.
With this service, customers can learn about different car models, designs, colors, and features. They can then choose their preferred car and make an online payment using the available payment methods provided by the platform.
According to Amazon, customers will be able to purchase cars and accessories online and then either pick them up at the showroom or have them delivered by local dealers.
Amazon states that this shopping experience will offer many advantages, helping dealers reach customers and providing the utmost convenience for consumers.
In recent years, Tesla and other electric car companies have eliminated traditional dealership intermediaries in order to reduce the cost of cars for consumers.
Previously, Hyundai had experience selling cars online in its home country of South Korea and neighboring country Japan. Consumers could purchase the versatile sports model Casper from the company’s website starting in 2021 without having to visit a dealership in South Korea.
In Japan, Hyundai has been selling the Ioniq 5 EV and Nexo fuel cell vehicles online since May 2022.
