The 2024 Kia Morning will be equipped with a range of groundbreaking driver assistance features, promising to make its competitors wary.
Kia Australia has confirmed that the smallest and most affordable model from the brand will receive additional safety features in its mid-cycle upgrade for the 2024 model year.
Accordingly, the Kia Picanto (known as the Kia Morning in the Vietnamese market) will receive a range of unprecedented driver assistance systems, including: Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Advanced Emergency Braking which can detect pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles approaching.
It remains unclear whether the new Picanto will provide integrated satellite navigation and Kia Connect services. Further details will be announced prior to its launch in Australia before the end of 2023.
In addition, Kia Australia has also confirmed that the 2024 Kia Picanto will not include the turbocharged GT variant. The reason being that the manual transmission system with the 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine has been discontinued globally.
This means the entire 2024 Picanto lineup will be equipped with a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.25L. This engine block generates a power output of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 122 Nm.
In Vietnam, the Kia Morning currently only comes standard with basic safety features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), a rearview camera, reverse sensors, 2 airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
