In the small MPV segment, the Mitsubishi Xpander model continues to dominate with sales in October reaching over 1,200 units, larger than the combined sales of all three Toyota models (915 units).

Although sales decreased by 33% compared to September, Mitsubishi Xpander still leads the segment with 1,277 units sold in the market. Accumulated from the beginning of the year, Mitsubishi Xpander sold 15,464 units.

The reason for the somewhat declining sales is that last month, Xpander was no longer given preferential treatment by the manufacturer and only the domestically-assembled manual transmission (MT) version received a 50% reduction in registration fee.

In October, Hyundai Stargazer recorded sales of 495 units, an increase of nearly 24% compared to the previous month. Accumulated from the beginning of the year until now, Hyundai has sold a total of 3,095 Stargazer units. Although still far behind Xpander, this result also helps Hyundai’s Korean model rise to second place in the top-selling MPV for the month.

Ranked 3rd in the best-selling car rankings in the segment is the Honda BR-V model. In October, this model recorded a sales decrease of 41%, reaching only 468 units.

Despite the sales increase, Kia Carens only ranks 4th in the segment with 396 units delivered to customers. For the past 10 months, this model has recorded sales of 2,988 units.

Immediately following Kia Carens is the Toyota Veloz with 390 units sold in the market in October. Accumulated from the beginning of the year until now, this model has achieved sales of 6,532 units, ranking 2nd in the segment, second only to Xpander.

In the past month, the MPV segment also saw the presence of some new players such as: Hyundai Custin and Toyota Innova Cross.

In the first month of sales, Hyundai Custin had 324 units delivered to customers, ranking 6th in the top-selling car rankings in the segment. Toyota Innova recorded sales of 272 units, ranking 7th in the top-selling car rankings in the segment.

Other models such as Toyota Avanza, Suzuki XL7, and Suzuki Ertiga ranked 8th, 9th, and 10th respectively with corresponding sales figures of 253 – 143 – 108 units.

Currently, small MPV models are also being heavily discounted to boost shopping demand at the end of the year. Specifically, the Hyundai Stargazer model is currently offered with the highest discount of over 100 million VND. Next is the Suzuki Ertiga 2022 production versions with discounts of around 100 million VND.
