The leadership of KG Mobility had a meeting with Kim Long Motors to discuss plans for assembling and distributing KG-branded vehicles in Vietnam.

According to Autodaily Korea, recently, the leadership of KG Mobility (KGM) had a working session with Kim Long Motors to discuss expanding strategic cooperation in assembling and distributing KG (formerly known as SsangYong) vehicles in Vietnam. The meeting was attended by Mr. Kwak Jae-sun – Chairman of the KGM Group, CEO of KGM Jeong Yong-won, Chairman of the Audit Commission Kim Hyung-chul, Chairman of Futa Group Nguyen Huu Luan, and Chairman of Kim Long Motors Mai Phuoc Nghê.

During the meeting, the leaders of both sides visited the construction site of KG Mobility’s component assembly plant in Hue. At the same time, representatives from both companies also discussed plans to introduce vehicles in Vietnam, initially with the Torres EVX SUV and the KGMC electric bus.

Therefore, it is highly likely that the Torres EVX will be the first vehicle to mark the return of SsangYong, now KGM. This is a pure electric SUV in the mid-size segment, with dimensions comparable to VF 8, Santa Fe, and Sorento. In South Korea, the Torres EVX has a price of only about 30 million won (equivalent to 550 million VND).

SsangYong previously brought vehicles for distribution in Vietnam in 2008 and 2017 but failed to establish a foothold and quickly disappeared from the market.

The leaders of KGM consider Vietnam as a potential market with rapid development speed, occupying an important position in the group’s future development plans in ASEAN. “We will excel as a global corporation by actively expanding our business operations in new markets, including expanding manufacturing and assembly activities locally, not only in Europe but also in potential high-growth markets such as Saudi Arabia and Vietnam,” Mr. Kwak Jae-sun remarked.
