Maruti Suzuki Joint Venture in India has released images of the production version of the affordable Ciaz model. Designed specifically for the Indian market, the Suzuki Ciaz will start selling in October.
In fact, the Suzuki Ciaz is the production version of the Authentics concept car, which was first unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Belonging to the small sedan segment, the Suzuki Ciaz is a formidable competitor to the Honda City in the Indian market in the near future.
The basic dimensions of the Suzuki Ciaz include an overall length of 4,490 mm, a width of 1,730 mm and a height of 1,485 mm. Meanwhile, the wheelbase of the car measures 2,650 mm. It can be said that compared to its segment rivals, the Suzuki Ciaz has slightly smaller dimensions.
The newcomer from Suzuki in the Indian market is equipped with a set of multi-spoke alloy wheels with a diameter of 16 inches and a spacious trunk with a volume of 510 liters. The weight of the petrol version of the Suzuki Ciaz is only 1,010 kg. The corresponding weight of the diesel version is 1,105 kg.
In terms of engine, the Suzuki Ciaz uses a 4-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters, producing a maximum power of 91 horsepower and a maximum torque of 130 Nm. In addition, there is a 4-cylinder diesel engine with Fiat Multijet label with a displacement of 1.3 liters, a maximum power of 89 horsepower and a maximum torque of 200 Nm.
According to Suzuki, the Ciaz will come with a fairly long list of equipment, including automatic air conditioning, keyless ignition, rear air conditioning vents, integrated touchscreen navigation system, power outlet and electric trunk opening. Other convenient features include a rearview camera and parking sensors, leather seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, projector headlights and USB/AUX/Bluetooth ports.
Starting today, September 3rd, Suzuki will be accepting orders for the Ciaz from Indian customers. After that, the Suzuki Ciaz will officially go on sale in the Indian market in mid-October. For the time being, the selling price of the Suzuki Ciaz has not been announced. However, if tradition is any indication in the Indian market, the Suzuki Ciaz is sure to have a “soft” price.
