After its successful launch in the domestic market, the Suzuki Swift 2024 is now making its debut in the European market with some changes and a range of new features.

While other car manufacturers have had to give up on the B-segment hatchback, Suzuki continues to introduce the new generation of the Swift in the Japanese and European markets. Since its launch in 2004, the Japanese automaker has sold over 9 million units of the Swift. The new generation of this model marks the 20-year milestone with some design and equipment changes.

The fourth-generation Suzuki Swift still maintains its old design but looks more elegant. The front of the car features a grille similar to its predecessor, but the rounded frame replaces the sharp edges. The lighting cluster has a new interface but still uses the distinctive LED strip from the third generation. The front bumper does not have a fog light housing like the version sold in Japan.

The black door pillars create a sense of unity. This detail on the old generation was painted in two-tone colors. The angular wheels add a youthful and sporty style. The rear end adds a reflector cluster, reducing the monotony of the predecessor. The simple LED taillights create a neat and modern look for the B-segment hatchback.

The interior of the Suzuki Swift 2024 in Japan is similar to the design of the Swift 2024 in Europe

The interior shows more noticeable changes, with a simplified control panel to optimize ergonomics for users. The centrally-mounted 9-inch touchscreen is prominent. Behind the steering wheel is a dashboard with 2 analog dials and a multifunction TFT display. The air vents no longer have a simplistic shape.

What disappoints many people is that the Suzuki Swift 2024 does not switch from manual handbrake to electronic handbrake and still lacks an armrest for the front seats.

The new generation Swift impresses with its safety and driver assistance features such as lane keeping assist, driver monitoring, and dual sensor brakes. This braking system combines a camera and radar to warn the driver of vehicles or pedestrians on the road, providing alerts and can automatically brake if the driver does not react.

In addition, Suzuki also adds phone connectivity to the car.

Recently, Suzuki has been criticized for delaying the electrification process of its products. However, the newly launched 2024 Swift in Japan has an additional hybrid version alongside the ICE version.

It is unclear whether the European market will have a hybrid version of the Swift or not. It is known that the 1.2-liter engine with a mild-hybrid system will offer more power than the previous generation’s 82 horsepower. It is likely to come with a CVT transmission and front-wheel or 4-wheel drive.

Earlier in early November, the Suzuki Swift 2024 was launched in the Japanese market with 2 versions: gasoline and mild-hybrid. Compared to the previous generation, the size remains unchanged. The difference lies in the convenience features as the manufacturer has added electronic handbrake and Auto-hold feature.

In Vietnam, Suzuki Swift is currently sold with only one version. The starting price is from 560 million VND, cheaper than the Toyota Yaris (684 million VND) but still more expensive than the Mazda2 Sport (512-557 million VND). This model used to be popular with female customers, but the lack of significant changes over the years has reduced its attractiveness.
