Porsche Exclusive is known for creating custom-made vehicles for consumers. The company started taking orders from customers in the mid-1980s. This was the time when Porsche recognized the potential for catering to wealthy customers with unique and personalized vehicles.
One of the first projects undertaken by Porsche Exclusive was the creation of a one-of-a-kind vehicle called the 935 Street. Mansour Ojjeh, an Arab businessman and the CEO and co-owner of Techniques d’Avant Garde (TAG), ordered the 935 Street. TAG is the parent company of the renowned TAG Heuer watch brand and also owns a 21% stake in the McLaren Group, which includes the F1 racing team and the popular British supercar brand.
Prior to this, Mansour Ojjeh admired the success of the Porsche 935 racing model and wanted a “street version of the Porsche 935 race car, but with a touch of luxury.” Finally, Ojjeh turned to Porsche Exclusive to fulfill his dream.
To fulfill Ojjeh’s desires, the engineers at Porsche Exclusive used a completely new body shell from the 930 line and added components characteristic of a racing car. This included a turbocharged engine with a displacement of 3.3 liters and a maximum output of 375 horsepower, taken from the Porsche 934 model. Additionally, the 935 Street featured the suspension, brakes, and body panels of the Porsche 935 race car.
Afterward, the unique Porsche 935 Street was painted in a special red color. The interior was upholstered in cream-colored leather and adorned with wood accents, making it the first Porsche to feature wood trim.
The 1983 Porsche 935 Street is the most meticulously crafted project by Porsche Exclusive. The vehicle was equipped with 550 new parts, which filled 17 pages of invoices. Two notable additions were the BBS alloy wheels sized at 345/35 VR15 in the rear and the Clarion sound system.
The cost of creating the Porsche 935 Street in 1983 was never revealed. However, according to rumors, the one-of-a-kind 1983 Porsche 935 Street was three times the price of the standard 911 Turbo.
Since coming into the possession of Mansour Ojjeh, the 1983 Porsche 935 Street has only been driven 12,004 miles, equivalent to 19,312 km. However, Ojjeh has decided to sell the vehicle rather than continue using it. “Unrestored but intact” is how Ojjeh described the 1983 Porsche 935 Street when putting it up for sale.
The unique Porsche 935 Street is set to find a new owner at the upcoming Bonhams Spa Classic Sale auction on May 18th. Ojjeh’s estimated selling price for the 1983 Porsche 935 Street is between 300,000 and 400,000 Euros ($411,750 – $548,640).
