Technology is an increasingly important factor in new car models. In addition to autonomous driving and safety features, there are many other modern technologies equipped in today’s new cars, making driving easier and more enjoyable. Here is a list of some of the most advanced technology-equipped car models today.

1. Mercedes-Maybach GLS

According to Carbuzz, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS uses technology to provide a luxurious experience like no other for both the driver and especially the rear-seat passengers.

When sitting in the rear seats, users are provided with top-of-the-line amenities such as heating, ventilation, reclining, and no less than six massage modes. Even the armrests of this luxury SUV model have heating functions.

Some other convenient features of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS include a cup holder with hot/cold function, a cabin fragrance system, a 27-speaker Burmester 3D sound system with Dolby Atmos, and a 7-inch tablet dedicated to rear-seat passengers.

Additionally, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS also has E-Active Body Control, which scans the road ahead through airborne cameras. Depending on the road surface, the SUV will then adjust the speed of the springs, damping, and balance at each corner to provide the most comfortable driving experience possible.

2. BMW 7 Series/i7

Front-seat headrest screens have become “in vogue” ever since the BMW 7 Series/i7 came out. The BMW 7 Series/i7 is dubbed a “mobile cinema” as it is equipped with a Theatre Screen measuring up to 31 inches specifically for rear-seat passengers. When activated, this screen gently descends from the ceiling, while the side curtains and the rear window simultaneously close.

The Theatre Screen on the BMW 7 Series/i7 is not only large but also has an 8K resolution and the ability to display aspect ratios of 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9, just like in a cinema. The ability to stream videos via Amazon Fire TV or other sources from the extremely comfortable rear seats of BMW is something that has never been seen in the brand’s previous models. To provide users with a true movie theater experience, BMW uses the 36-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system with 4D vibrations sent to the headrests.

However, the new 7 Series and i7 electric models are not just “mobile cinemas.” These two models also have a new interactive strip on the control panel with a crystalline surface structure, acting as both a futuristic design element and an interface. It can change colors to denote different functions.

Furthermore, the BMW 7 Series/i7 can park itself in tight spaces by memorizing the necessary operations, it has the LED Panoramic Sky Lounge overhead lighting, a digital control panel integrated into the rear door, and an improved voice assistant that can take commands from rear-seat passengers.

3. Rolls-Royce Spectre

Rolls-Royce’s inclusion on this list is completely understandable, and like fuel-burning models, Spectre comes with all the advanced features and meticulous construction. According to Carbuzz, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is the most aerodynamically advanced car ever made.

The all-aluminum body structure contributes to a 30% greater stiffness in the Spectre compared to any previous luxury vehicle from the brand. To provide the famous smooth ride, the Spectre’s Planar suspension system can separate the anti-roll bars, allowing each wheel to work independently. 18 sensors monitor when entering a corner, all working together to keep the car balanced while reducing collisions.

When opening the door to enter the cabin, users are welcomed by 4,796 “stars.” Almost everything the user touches is powered, heated, or damped perfectly. The Spectre has 141,200 send/receive functions and a cable system that extends over four miles to ensure all technologies function.

4. Lucid Air

According to Carbuzz, the Lucid Air leads in speed and charging range. The Lucid Air is equipped with a curved 34-inch “Glass Cockpit” screen. This 5k screen is divided into 3 different areas. On the left are the light controls, wiper stalks, and defrosters. In the center is the digital instrument cluster. The third part is the infotainment features and focuses on navigation, communication, and connectivity, featuring the Amazon Alexa virtual assistant, compatibility with Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Users can also access services like Spotify and iHeartRadio.

Currently, the Lucid Air is one of the fastest charging electric vehicles being sold, with a maximum charge rate of 300 kW. Thanks to the 900V+ charging architecture, you can add up to 482km of driving range in just 20 minutes. Overall, the total driving range of this model is over 804km, leading the industry.

The Lucid Air’s DreamDrive autonomous driving system is also a notable feature. DreamDrive utilizes a total of 32 sensors, including ultrasonic sensors, radar sensors, 18 cameras, solid-state LiDAR sensors, and driver attention cameras.

5. Volvo EX90

Like Lucid, Volvo has also heavily invested in autonomous driving technology, and no model exemplifies this more than the EX90. The Volvo EX90 features a “safe body” equipped with a LiDAR sensor on the roof. This sensor system includes 5 radars, 8 cameras, and 16 ultrasonic sensors.

Volvo states that the LiDAR system is produced by the American technology company Luminar. The system is capable of detecting small objects during both day and night at a range of up to 250m, even while traveling at highway speeds. This range far exceeds the detection range of current commonly used LiDAR systems.

A comprehensive modern technology package is also installed inside the cabin of the Volvo EX90, including a 14.5-inch center infotainment system that comes integrated with Google, allowing seamless integration of Google Assistant, Google Maps navigation, and a range of apps from Google Play. Additionally, the system also supports wireless Apple CarPlay.
