In the past 10 years, Toyota has been gradually changing and breaking away from its safety zone. The company’s products have also undergone transformations in terms of exterior, interior, and engine.

Recently, Toyota has sportified two popular models, the Yaris and Corolla. It is possible that in the future, the Japanese automaker will continue to introduce a sporty GR version for the 2023 Camry.

Looking at the GR Corolla/Yaris models, one can imagine the appearance of the Toyota GR Camry. However, the powertrain is a major issue, as it is unclear which high-performance engine will be compatible with the current Camry chassis.

Toyota may upgrade the 1.6L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine from the GR Yaris and GR Corolla to accommodate the larger weight, but it is challenging to push the engine power limit to around 450 horsepower.

The second option is for the Japanese automaker to invest heavily in developing a new engine.

It is likely that, to optimize costs and time, Toyota will carry over the engine from the GR Corolla/Yaris models to the GR Camry.
