At the launch event of the new Yamaha Janus and Yamaha FreeGo on April 13, Yamaha Motor Vietnam also showcased the Yamaha Neo’s electric motorcycle, which was recently introduced globally. Currently, the Yamaha Neo’s is being produced at the company’s factory in Vietnam and exported to the European market.
The new Neo’s is considered the electric version of the 50cc Yamaha Neo’s model that Yamaha produced in the past. The overall size of the motorcycle is compact, targeting urban users.
The seat height of the Yamaha Neo’s is stated at 795mm, suitable for the majority of users. The ground clearance of 135mm is sufficient to easily overcome obstacles.
The front mask has a simple yet soft design, with integrated LED headlights and position lights in the center. The LED turn signal lights are positioned high, just below the motorcycle’s front cover.
The Yamaha Neo’s tail is short and has a high-raised design, with integrated turn signals and attractive LED technology.
The front fork is a conventional telescopic fork with 5-spoke dual cast wheels measuring 13 inches, fitted with 110/70 tires. The motorcycle comes with a disc brake, but does not have ABS.
The rear wheel of the motorcycle is also a 5-spoke, 13-inch dual cast wheel with a 130/70 tire, along with a centrally-mounted motor cover for the direct drive system. The rear brake is a drum brake.
The motorcycle features a compact digital display screen for the instrument cluster, with a simple interface showing parameters such as speed and battery level. The motorcycle has two operating modes, Eco and Std. The Eco mode is energy-saving, allowing the motorcycle to travel up to 37km, while the Std mode provides better acceleration, but the battery will run out faster.
The motorcycle is powered by a 50.4V/19.2Ah Lithium-ion battery. The battery is designed to be removable for external charging. In Europe, the cost of a second battery is around 1,175 EUR, equivalent to 29 million VND. The motorcycle can also be equipped with two batteries at once, providing a range of 68km. There is a storage compartment with a capacity of 27 liters next to the battery compartment.
The heart of the Yamaha Neo’s is a direct-drive electric motor, with a power of 3.08 horsepower in Eco mode and 3.35 horsepower in Std mode. The maximum torque of the motor is stated at 136 Nm.
The motorcycle is available in two colors, Black and White. The Black version is equipped with a Smart Key, while the White version uses a traditional key.
The price of the Yamaha Neo’s in Europe is stated at 3,005 EUR, equivalent to around 75 million VND. Currently, Yamaha Motor Vietnam does not have plans to sell this electric motorcycle in the domestic market.
