Back in late 2013, Honda surprised everyone by introducing a small and affordable SUV called the Vezel. Regarded as the little sibling of the CR-V, the Vezel served as a new global model under the Honda brand.
The name Vezel is actually only used in the Japanese market. In other markets such as the US and Southeast Asia, the Honda Vezel is known as the HR-V. Honda hasn’t announced what the Vezel will be called when launching the new affordable SUV model in the European market.
Leaked image of the Honda XR-V at the Chengdu Auto Show in China.
Up until now, leaked images at the Chengdu Auto Show in China reveal that the Honda Vezel will have a third name. Specifically, in the Chinese market, the affordable Honda car will be called the XR-V. Based on the leaked images, it can be seen that the XR-V will be a new product from the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture in the Chinese market.
Currently, there isn’t much information available regarding the Honda XR-V in the Chinese market. All we know is that the XR-V will have a design that is not much different from the HR-V in the US or the Vezel in Japan.
The most noticeable difference of the Honda XR-V in China compared to the HR-V and Vezel is the rear end. Honda provides a thinner taillight cluster for the XR-V in the Chinese market. The taillights on the Honda XR-V connect to the redesigned rear bumper.
Unfortunately, there are no images of the front end of the Honda XR-V. Therefore, it is unclear if the Honda XR-V will have any other distinguishing features compared to the HR-V and Vezel.
