Developed based on the regular Lada Kalina, the new model stands out with a more aggressive design. The car is equipped with a split black front grille, side air vents, and a faux diffuser integrated into the rear bumper. On top of that is a rear spoiler attached to the trunk lid. The regular Kalina’s steel wheels have been replaced with multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Inside the Lada Kalina Sport, there is a new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with red stitching. The sports seats feature a two-tone design that hugs the occupants, leather-wrapped gear shifter, and a touch-screen display on the center console.
The new Lada Kalina Sport also comes with many convenient features such as Bluetooth connectivity, navigation system, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-adjustable windows, and standard heated seats. Therefore, this is the most luxurious and technologically advanced model from Lada to date.
The Lada Kalina Sport is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine, producing a maximum output of 118 horsepower. The power is delivered to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. As a result, the Lada Kalina Sport can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds and achieve a top speed of 196 km/h.
In terms of safety, Lada has added front airbags and curtain airbags for passengers on the front seat. In addition, there is an anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The Lada Kalina Sport is scheduled to be officially unveiled at the Moscow 2014 exhibition, which takes place from August 27th onwards. After that, the car will quickly appear on the Russian market with a starting price of 487,000 Ruble, equivalent to 13,600 USD.
