The car model used by the character Aladeen in the movie The Dictator will be commercialized in a limited quantity of only 10 cars.
The Dictator is an American comedy film directed by Sacha Baron Cohen, inspired by the book Zabibah and the King by former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. In the film, the character Aladeen is the supreme leader of Wadiya, a fictional Middle Eastern country with a massive oil reserve. The steel-plated and gold-plated SUV is Aladeen’s main mode of transportation.
This special car is crafted by Dartz, a renowned tuning company from Russia. Initially, Dartz only produced three cars for the filming process. One of them appeared at the premiere of The Dictator in May 2012 in London, UK. However, many wealthy individuals wanted a similar car to the dictator Aladeen, so the tuning company made an additional 10 cars and sold them on the market.
The commercial name of this special car model is Dartz Motorz Prombron The Dictator Aladeen Edition MMXXII. The car is modified from the original Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
Unlike the car in the movie, which was only painted in gold, the commercial version of Dartz Motorz Prombron The Dictator Aladeen Edition MMXXII will be actually gold-plated. The car can withstand armor-piercing bullets of 0.5mm, with the option to protect the occupants from grenade and mine attacks.
The tuning company has not released images of the interior of the gold-plated car but mentioned that the cabin uses only artificial leather. Moreover, Dartz representatives stated that the company will produce more cars if they see positive signals from the market demand. The cost to own this luxurious gold-plated armored car is over 1 million USD (over 24 billion VND).
