When displaying vintage cars from the pre-war era, extreme caution is required. Just a slight lapse can result in unfortunate accidents like the ones below to occur.
A rare vintage Rolls-Royce called the Eight Convertible Sedan met with an unlucky incident as it plunged into a lake during the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance 2016 event in South Carolina, USA, recently.
The unfortunate accident happened after the Rolls-Royce Super Eight Convertible Sedan won the Best of Class award at the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d’Elegance 2016 event. As a result, the vintage Rolls-Royce sank underwater within a few minutes.
According to The Island Packet, at the time of the accident, the Rolls-Royce Super Eight Convertible Sedan was not parked with the handbrake engaged. Some event visitors tried to pull the vintage Rolls-Royce out of the lake but to no avail. The 1,814 kg Super Eight Convertible Sedan was too heavy and ended up submerged underwater.
“This is an unfortunate accident. We feel really sorry for the car owner,” stated Carolyn Vanagel, the head of the event organizing committee.
