In August of this year, there were rumors in the Vietnamese car market about Hyundai launching a completely new A-segment SUV this year. At that time, many people predicted that this A-segment SUV was the Hyundai Exter recently launched in India.

Until now, the mysterious A-segment SUV that Hyundai is about to introduce in Vietnam is believed to be the Venue. The car will officially be launched in Vietnam on December 16th.

Compared to the Exter, the Hyundai Venue is bigger in size. Specifically, this model in markets outside of India has dimensions of 4,041 x 1,770 x 1,617 mm and a wheelbase of 2,500 mm. With these dimensions, Hyundai Venue will be a competitor to the Kia Sonet and Toyota Raize when sold in Vietnam.

Upgraded in the Indian market in June 2022, the Hyundai Venue has an exterior design similar to a downsized version of the Creta and Tucson. This is not surprising, as the car also applies Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy.

The highlight of this A-segment SUV lies in the large chrome grille at the front of the car, along with the dual-tier headlamp cluster with fog lamps, turn signals located above and low-beam headlights below. The headlamp cluster is surrounded by LED daytime running lights.

Other notable design details of the car include a wide center air intake, silver front/rear skid plates, 16-inch alloy wheels with a strong multi-spoke design, roof rails, shark fin antenna, and taillights with a “T” shape and running horizontally across the rear of the car.

Inside the Hyundai Venue, there is a steering wheel with a design similar to the Tucson, integrated paddle shifters, 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, digital instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, Bose audio system, sunroof, automatic air conditioning with air filter, rear seat vents, interior ambient lighting, and wireless phone charging.

In India, this A-segment SUV also has an H2C feature, allowing users to adjust air conditioning and lock/unlock doors remotely, check the car’s status, locate the car or check tire pressure and fuel level.

It is not yet clear which engine Hyundai Venue in Vietnam will use. In India, the car has three engine options. First is the turbocharged Kappa T-GDI gasoline engine with direct fuel injection, a displacement of 1.0L, producing a maximum power of 118 horsepower and a peak torque of 172 Nm. The second is a naturally aspirated Kappa gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.2L, with a maximum power of 82 horsepower and a peak torque of 115 Nm. The respective figures for the remaining 1.5L CRDI diesel engine are 99 horsepower and 240 Nm.

Depending on the engine type, the car will use a 5-speed manual transmission, 6-speed manual transmission, 6-speed iMT manual transmission without a clutch pedal, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Accompanied by this are the Normal, Eco, and Sport driving modes, selected via a rotary knob on the center control panel.

Finally, there are safety features such as 6 airbags, tire pressure monitoring, rear parking sensors, cruise control, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, reverse camera, and automatic high beam headlights.

The Venue may be assembled in Vietnam, like most other Hyundai models.
