The YangWang U9 is equipped with 4 electric motors, providing a power of 1,287 horsepower. As a result, this supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 300 km/h.
YangWang U9 was unveiled in April this year at the Shanghai Auto Show, but it wasn’t until now that the technical specifications of this Chinese electric supercar were announced.
According to that, YangWang U9 has a configuration of four electric motors, each motor producing 322 horsepower, bringing the total power to 1,287 horsepower, higher than the 1,100 horsepower figure that was initially announced. The car weighs up to 2,475 kg, heavier than most conventional combustion engine supercars.
BYD (parent company of YangWang) said it can reach a speed of 100 km/h from 0 in just 2 seconds and has a maximum speed of 300 km/h. The company also claims that this flagship supercar can travel up to 700 km on a single charge, thanks to the 100 kWh battery pack.
In addition to its powerful engine, the YangWang U9 also impresses with its many special technologies, demonstrating the progress of the Chinese automotive industry. With a special suspension system, the Chinese electric supercar has the ability to “jump high”, lifting all 4 wheels off the ground and still performing well even with only 3 wheels.
Specifically, the U9 uses a suspension system that YangWang calls “Disus-X”, which includes an intelligent body control system via shock absorbers (Disus-C) developed by BYD, an intelligent body control system via hydraulics (Disus-P), and an intelligent body control system via compressed air (Disus-A), along with control of movement in the vertical, horizontal, and straight directions. This feature is certainly rarely used, but it is very useful in case of a wheel or tire issue.
Despite being equipped with many special technologies, the YangWang U9 has a relatively affordable price compared to many other supercar models, ranging from 1 million Chinese yuan (~3.4 billion VND).
