Notably, in the opening auction session for December 16, 2023, many number plates with consecutive nines were bid at high prices, especially the plates 99A-699.99 and 17A-399.99, which were auctioned for over 1 billion VND. These two number plates were highly anticipated in yesterday’s auction.
Among them, the number plate 17A-399.99, won by a wealthy person at exactly 1 billion VND, according to regulations, the winner of the auction of the car license plate 17A-399.99 will have to pay the full auction amount within 15 days from the date of result announcement. This amount will be deducted from the deposit (40 million VND), but does not include the vehicle registration fee, so there is still a remaining payment of 960 million VND.
As for the beautiful number plate 99A-699.99, it was auctioned for up to 1.46 billion VND, the highest bidder needs to pay an additional amount of 1.42 billion VND to own this number plate.
The number plate 99A-699.99 is highly valued because if the number 6 is reversed, it becomes 9, and now the plate has 7 number 9s, known as “thất trùng cửu” in Vietnamese, but with only 6 number 9s like the plate 99A-699.99, it turns out to be very beautiful, known as “lục cửu” in Vietnamese.
