Honda begins production of pure electric HR-V for ASEAN market
The Honda e:N1, an electric car model developed based on the HR-V, is currently being produced in Thailand. Honda's first electric car model for the ASEAN region will be launched earlier than anticipated.
After conducting a test drive program at the Tochigi Proving Grounds in Japan a few months ago, Honda has now begun production of the e:N1 electric crossover model at its Prachinburi plant in Thailand.
The Honda e:N1 is essentially an electric version of the HR-V. The car is built on Honda’s e:N Architecture F EV platform with front-wheel drive. It is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum power of 204 PS and a peak torque of 310 Nm, which is stronger than the 1.5 VTEC Turbo engine in the HR-V.
During a test drive of the e:N1 crossover, experts from Autoindustriya found that the handling and user-friendliness of the car were very similar to a typical Honda.
Other technical specifications of the e:N1 model for the ASEAN market have not been disclosed by Honda, but we may not have to wait too long to learn more about this new electric car. Honda has said that the e:N1 electric crossover model may be launched in the first quarter of 2024.
