The first accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck has been recorded on a suburban road in California, USA.
According to information from the California Highway Patrol, a 2009 Toyota Corolla was traveling on Skyline Boulevard in Palo Alto when it suddenly lost control and crashed into a nearby embankment. The vehicle then flipped over, crossed the median, and collided with the oncoming Tesla Cybertruck.

After the accident, the Toyota Corolla sustained significant damage, while the electric pickup truck, Cybertruck, also suffered a dent on the left side. According to the police report, the driver of the Corolla and the two passengers in the Tesla were not injured in the accident.
The driver of the Cybertruck experienced some pain but declined to go to the hospital for further observation. The Tesla is reported to have a Texas license plate, and the driver’s name matches that of an engineer working for Tesla. Therefore, it is unclear whether this is a personal vehicle or one belonging to the company.

The driver of the Corolla who caused the accident is a 17-year-old teenager. The exact cause of the vehicle losing control is currently unknown, but the police note that the weather conditions were unfavorable at the time of the incident, with wet and slippery roads and limited visibility.
Reasons related to the removed driving assistance technology could not be confirmed, as the police did not find evidence to support the claim of the driver using the vehicle’s self-driving capabilities at the time of the incident. The police mentioned that they were notified of the incident through an automatic 911 call, although it is still unclear whether that call was triggered by the Emergency Call feature on the Cybertruck.
