One of the new points of interest in the draft amendment of the Vietnam Road Administration is that people with expired driver’s licenses of 3 months or more must re-take both the theory and simulation exams.
The Vietnam Road Administration is finalizing the draft amendment to the Decree on training, examination, and issuance of driver’s licenses (GPLX). In which, the draft amendment of Article 1, Article 3, and Article 6 of Article 36 stipulates:
People with expired GPLX between 3 months and less than 1 year must re-take the theory and software simulation exams to renew their GPLX.
From 1 year onwards, people must re-take the theory and software simulation exams, and practice driving in pictures and on the road to renew their GPLX.
The representative of the Vehicle and Driver Management Division (Vietnam Road Administration) stated that the provisions on training, examination, and issuance of GPLXare implemented according to the regulations of the Government.
In recent times, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to study and collect opinions from agencies, departments, and localities to supplement and amend Decree 04 on road training, examination, and issuance of GPLX.
In compliance with the Ministry’s guidance, the Vietnam Road Administration has incorporated the opinions and suggestions of localities. Currently, the administration is cooperating with the software development unit to adjust the simulation test.
The representative of the Vietnam Road Administration stated: “We will adjust the situations to match reality. We will adjust the scoring method to prolong the time for recognizing dangerous situations. Especially, we will remove this test for those who already have driver’s licenses but need to retake them due to expiration.”
