Kia’s smallest crossover model for the Asian market debuted in 2020 and received a facelift in 2024. The focus of the upgrade is mainly on the exterior changes, with boomerang-shaped LED headlights running from the front bumper, and a wider tiger-nose grille. Black details accompany the headlight connections, and the front panels are finished in faux aluminum.

In addition, the car has new color options, and the notable upgrade is the 16-inch alloy wheels. The rear of the car features LED taillights that are connected similarly to other Kia models, including the Kia Caren. The faux aluminum details on the bumper have also been redesigned. Interestingly, the design of the Kia Sonet for the Indian market is different from the one for the Chinese market, as proven by leaked photos a few months ago.

The interior changes are less apparent, as the dashboard retains its current layout. The cabin is still equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 1-inch digital display, and the air conditioning system has been readjusted. There are also options for leather or fabric upholstery. Depending on the version, the features may include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charging, ventilated seats, Bose sound system, sunroof, air purifier, six airbags (standard), and new ADAS.

The drivetrain options remain the same as the previous version, including the MPi 1.2L engine with 82 horsepower, the T-GDi 1.0L engine with 118 horsepower, and the 1.5L engine. The CRDi diesel engine produces 114 horsepower. All versions are front-wheel drive, with three different transmissions depending on the drivetrain.

Kia has not announced the price of the Sonet facelift in India, but it is expected to increase slightly compared to the previous version. Kia will start accepting orders on December 20, 2023, with the first deliveries scheduled for mid-January 2024. The production of the Kia Sonet takes place in Anantapur, India.
