The Real Truth: Honda Accord Turns Profit After Nearly 30 Years: Higher Price Than New Despite Over 3,500km Driven

The 1995 Honda Accord is creating a buzz in the United States and appears to have found a new owner.

In December, Vern Eide Honda dealership in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA posted a controversial article. The main subject of the article was a 1995 Honda Accord sedan. Judging by the photos, the quality of the car has been maintained very well. The dealership also guarantees this aspect. The leather seats look like new, as well as the exterior tires. The odometer reads only 2,187 miles, which is equivalent to 3,520 km. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is a “showroom” model to the highest standard possible for a 1995 Honda Accord.

The controversy comes from the piece of paper attached to the windshield of the car. The dealership’s asking price for the sedan is $24,911 (equivalent to 606.8 million VND). This amount is higher than the original price of the sedan nearly three decades ago ($22,470), meaning that it is “profitable” after almost 30 years. However, if we account for USD inflation, this car can be considered as holding its value rather than making a profit.

Despite the well-preserved quality, it is unlikely that anyone would be willing to spend such a large sum of money on this Honda Accord. It should be noted that this is not a rare model, with production numbers reaching tens of millions, including over 13 million cars in the US alone.

The price of a same-generation Accord, as reference in the US used car market, can range from $1,500 to $2,500 (equivalent to 36.5 to 60.9 million VND).

However, shortly after posting information about the “one-of-a-kind” Accord, the dealership quickly removed the car. The fact that the car is no longer advertised for sale and is no longer at the dealership indicates that it has likely been sold.

The selling price of nearly $25,000 for the “like new” 1995 Accord is considered insane compared to similar cars. However, for those who intend to collect, this amount is not worth mentioning.
