During the online auction for automobile license plates on January 2, 2024, the Vietnamese joint venture auction company offered thousands of beautiful license plates for people to bid on. Many plates received high bids, and even the license plate 88A-666.66 was auctioned for nearly 30 billion VND.
In addition, there was also a quadruple-numbered plate that had a high bid, which was the license plate 99A-688.88 from the province of Bac Ninh. Specifically, the plate with double-eights (6 in Vietnamese is pronounced as “luc”) from Bac Ninh province received a bid of 3.745 billion VND.

According to regulations, the winner of the auction must pay the full auction amount within 15 days from the announcement date. This amount will be deducted from the deposit (40 million VND), but does not include the vehicle registration fee.
Afterward, within 12 months, the winner must register the license plate for their car. If they fail to do so, the beautiful license plate will be transferred to the registration and management system, and the winner will not receive a refund for the auction amount already paid.
