The Toyota Corolla II GL that Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu recently purchased is from 1985, which means this car is about 38 years old.

Toyota Corolla was introduced for the first time in 1966 and the 50 millionth car rolled off the production line in July 2021, solidifying its status as the best-selling car of all time.

In Vietnam, the majority of Toyota Corolla cars belong to generations 10, 11, and 12. The older the generation, the fewer the number of cars, with even just a few of them. And the Toyota Corolla II GL that Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu recently purchased is also a rare model.

It is known that the Toyota Corolla II GL purchased by the chairman of Trung Nguyen Coffee is from 1985, which means it belongs to the 5th generation. In that era, the 5th generation is considered the most popular generation of Corolla with over 3.3 million cars produced. In this generation, Corolla was designed with front-wheel drive, except for the AE85 and AE86 models of Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno (SR-5/GT-S in the US) which continued to use rear-wheel drive.

Toyota Corolla mainly comes in 2 versions, the 3-door and 5-door of sedan and hatchback models, depending on the market, the car will have its own designation. When sold in the US, in partnership with General Motors, improved versions of the AE82 sedan model were sold under a completely different name, Chevrolet Nova.

Returning to Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu’s 1985 Toyota Corolla II GL, the car stands out with its Miami blue exterior color. The front part of the car is equipped with classic round headlights, and it is likely that these details have been modified. The front bumper of the 1985 Toyota Corolla II GL is very unique, it is protruded and square, creating a distinctive and rugged look for this version.

The 1985 Toyota Corolla II GL of Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu has been modified with a new set of wheels. At the rear, the car is equipped with a sporty spoiler.

Inside the cabin, the 1985 Toyota Corolla II GL is equipped with a modified RASTP steering wheel with a size of 13 inches. In addition, the owner has also modified the cigarette pack holder and coffee holder for this classic car. The screen is still original to the car. The seating system is covered in 2 colors, beige and gray leather, and with the 3-door hatchback design, the rear seat space is spacious enough for 3 adults to sit comfortably.

Regarding the powertrain, depending on the market, the 5th generation Toyota Corolla will be offered with different power options. For example, in Japan, the 2A 1.3-liter engine was replaced by the more modern 2E 12-valve engine along with an upgraded version in May 1985.
