According to Carscoops, the waiting time for customers in Australia to receive the Honda Civic Type R will be shortened to only 9 months after Honda confirmed the allocation of additional vehicles.
Despite the new generation Honda Civic Type R being priced at around $48,600 in Australia and approximately $8,000 higher than the previous FK8 model, customers in the country still show a strong desire to own this car. In January, Honda Australia announced that the Honda Civic Type R was sold out for the next 18 months.
However, Carscoops revealed that Honda has recently allocated an additional 500 Civic Type R cars for Australia in 2023, which means that customers in this country will receive the car latest in February 2024.
“I am delighted to be able to allocate more new generation Civic Type R cars to the Australian market. Honda’s loyal customers will benefit from the timely delivery of their cars,” said Carolyn McMahon – Director of Honda Australia.

Initial sources say that at first, Australia was allocated around 600 new generation Honda Civic Type R cars. Prior to that, the FK8 generation of the Civic Type R was said to have achieved modest sales of between 1,200 and 1,300 units over 4 years.
Similarly to other markets, the Honda Civic Type R in Australia is equipped with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.0L, producing a maximum power of 315 horsepower. This is considered a power advantage for the Civic Type R compared to cheaper rivals such as the Hyundai i30 N or Volkswagen Golf GTI, while being on par with the 315 horsepower output of the Volkswagen Golf R priced at around $48,750 in the Australian market.
