Seizing the opportunity to attract customers during the Lunar New Year season, MG dealerships are currently offering big discounts for the RX5 model. Among them, the biggest discount comes from an MG dealership in Phu Tho province.
Specifically, this dealership is currently offering the MG RX5 at a price of only 609 million VND for the standard STD version and 669 million VND for the high-end LUX version. Compared to the list prices, both versions of this mid-size SUV are discounted by up to 130 million VND.

Meanwhile, a dealership in Ho Chi Minh City is applying a program that gives customers a cash gift of 100 million VND when purchasing the RX5 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the MG brand. In addition, customers who purchase this mid-size SUV will also receive a 20 million VND physical insurance for 2 years. Therefore, the total value of incentives for this Chinese car model is 120 million VND.

In Vietnam, the MG RX5 currently has 2 versions, the STD and the LUX, with listed prices of 739 million VND and 829 million VND, respectively. With the actual prices at the dealership, the MG RX5 is cheaper than B-segment SUV models such as the Kia Seltos (604 – 714 million VND), Hyundai Creta (640 – 740 million VND), Toyota Yaris Cross (650 – 765 million VND), and Honda HR-V (699 – 871 million VND).
However, this is not the highest cash incentive for this model since its launch in Vietnam. In December 2023, an MG dealership in Dak Lak province gave a cash gift of 145 million VND for the MG RX5.
Introduced in Vietnam in September 2023, the MG RX5 is considered a competitor to the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. However, with its price and equipment not being very attractive, plus the brand factor, this car model is unlikely to compete with the Hanoi and Japanese rivals.
MG RX5 is the newcomer in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam
The MG RX5 bears both the name and exterior design that evoke the luxury SUV Lexus RX. This can be seen clearly through the front design of the car with a large 3D grille that extends to the front bumper. In addition, this Chinese car model also has features such as LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, power tailgate, and power/adjustable/foldable/retractable mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Inside the MG RX5 is a 5-seat interior with leather seats, a flat-bottom sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.1-inch vertical center touchscreen, a sunroof, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, a 6-speaker sound system, and wireless phone charging.

The power source for the MG RX5 is a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
Compared to its segment rivals, the MG RX5 falls significantly behind in terms of safety equipment. Specifically, this car model only has basic safety features and lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Specifically, the MG RX5 has 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, cruise control system, front/rear parking sensors, tire pressure sensors, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), brake control when cornering, emergency brake assist (BA), electronic stability control, rollover prevention, hill start assist, and hill descent control.
With the discounted price at the dealership, the competitiveness of the MG RX5 may be improved during the Lunar New Year period.
