As October approaches the halfway mark, the prices of many scooter models in the Vietnamese market show no signs of cooling down. The reason is believed to be the increasing demand for motorcycles from the population.
Price Differences of Tens of millions of Dong
According to observations by Zing, the majority of Honda dealerships in Ho Chi Minh City are facing a shortage of the Vision model, with no available stock to deliver to new customers.
Visiting one Honda store in District 8 (Ho Chi Minh City), a salesperson said there was only one remaining Vision model, a special edition in red, priced at 43 million dong.
“You can also consider the Premium version in black and orange. However, as it is a rare color, the selling price is higher than even the Personalized version, and you have to accept a wait of a few days,” the salesperson said.

According to the salesperson, the Honda Vision Personalized edition is sold out. Therefore, besides agreeing to the price of 44.4 million dong (a difference of 9.5 million dong compared to the listed price), buyers have to wait until the end of October to receive the scooter.
At this store, the Honda Vision Standard version – priced at 37.5 million dong – is also out of stock for immediate delivery. The salesperson said the high demand for motorcycles for the back-to-school season for students has resulted in a severe shortage of this scooter model.
When visiting a dealership in District 11 (Ho Chi Minh City), the situation was not much different.
The salesperson said that the Black and Red edition of Honda Vision was available in about 10 units, while the Blue and Black edition was sold out.
For other versions and colors, customers can only place a deposit and wait for at least 4 to 5 days to receive the scooter.
According to observations in Ho Chi Minh City, the prices of Honda Vision scooters do not vary much between stores, with price differences of around 7.5-9.5 million dong compared to the listed price.
However, due to limited available stock, dealerships cannot deliver to customers immediately at this time, but only accept deposits and requests to wait.
According to a recent sales report released by Honda Vietnam, Vision is the best-selling scooter model for the company, with a sales volume of 55,284 units in September. It is estimated that Honda dealers sold an average of nearly 1,843 Vision scooters per day in the Vietnamese market.

In addition, the SH Mode is also facing price differences at dealerships. Specifically, at a dealership in District 8 (Ho Chi Minh City), the Special, Premium, and Standard versions of the SH Mode are priced at 76.4 million dong, 73.8 million dong, and 63.8 million dong, respectively.
Compared to the official listed price on the Honda Vietnam website, the actual selling price of the SH Mode is about 8.1-15.7 million dong higher depending on the version.
For the Air Blade with a 125cc engine, the selling price at dealerships currently ranges from 40.2-44.9 million dong. The 160cc engine option of the Air Blade is priced by sales staff at 55.3-58.5 million dong.
New Grande Model Sold Out
According to observations at Yamaha stores, the majority of Janus scooters on display have already been pre-ordered and are waiting to be delivered to new owners.
“All of these scooters have already been sold. Due to the bureaucratic process of paperwork based on a provincial residency, the owners have temporarily left their scooters at the store and will take them home as soon as they receive their license plates,” the salesperson said.
According to information from sales staff, the prices of Janus scooters for the Standard, Special, and Premium versions are 35.2 million dong, 38.7 million dong, and 39.2 million dong, respectively, slightly higher than in September. For the matte black color of the Premium version, customers have to pay an additional 1 million dong.
However, the salesperson said the available stock in the store is very limited in terms of colors and versions. Most customers interested in purchasing the Janus scooter have to place a deposit and wait for about a week to receive their scooter.
As for the new Grande model, the salesperson said the scooter is “sold out” due to high demand. This dealership cannot promise a delivery time for new stock, so they are also hesitant when customers request to place a deposit for the scooter.

“The Limited Edition of the new Grande has a selling price at the dealership of 56.9 million dong, but it is sold out and we don’t know when new stock will arrive,” the salesperson said.
For the old generation of the Grande, the dealership said only the Standard version is still available for 53.9 million dong. However, the salesperson said there are not many units left and only the red color is available.
Unchanged Prices for Piaggio, Vespa
According to observations by Zing, the selling prices of Vespa scooters remain unchanged.
Specifically, the Vespa Sprint 125cc models are priced from 77.4 million dong to 79.8 million dong, depending on the version. The Vespa Sprint with a 150cc engine is still sold at a dealership for 94.3 million dong.

For the Vespa Primavera, the selling prices at Topcom dealerships range from 75.4 million dong to 86.5 million dong, depending on the version.
With increased motorcycle production, the supply of popular scooter models is expected to be replenished soon, and the market will have more stock in the last few months of the year. However, the prices of popular scooter models are likely to remain relatively stable, with higher prices compared to the manufacturer’s suggested prices.
According to a report from the General Statistics Office, Vietnam’s domestic motorcycle production in September is estimated at 347,200 units, an increase of 33.9% compared to August.
Compared to the same period in September 2021, the expected growth rate of domestically produced motorcycles is 114.2%. With a total estimated production of over 347,000 units, September is also expected to be the peak month for motorcycle production in the country since the beginning of the year.
