Toyota’s car sales and production have been steadily increasing since the beginning of the year and are about to reach the 10 million mark worldwide.
According to the latest report, Toyota has produced 9.23 million vehicles and sold 9.36 million vehicles during the period from January to November 2023. The Japanese automaker is expected to end 2023 with an estimated sales volume of over 10 million vehicles. The company’s vehicle production in November saw a significant increase with 926,573 units, including 314,917 assembled in Japan and 611,656 produced in other countries.
Toyota’s vehicle production is driven by strong customer demand. According to statistics from The Mainichi magazine, Toyota’s sales reached a record high in November 2023 with 905,066 vehicles delivered to customers, a 13.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of Toyota vehicles sold in Japan reached 139,749 units, a significant growth of 27.1%, while global sales also increased by 11.5% to 765,317 units. Notably, the company’s electric vehicle sales increased by 53.4% in November to 343,981 units.

This automaker’s sales have shown good growth throughout the year. Toyota has reported 10 consecutive months of global sales growth and 11 consecutive months of sales growth in Japan. Production volume has also increased for 11 consecutive months this year.

With the positive sales performance, Toyota is highly likely to set a new sales record. In the first 11 months of the year, the combined sales of Toyota and Lexus reached 9,367,040 vehicles. Meanwhile, Toyota’s current sales record was set in 2019 with 9,714,253 vehicles (excluding sales from the Daihatsu and Hino brands). The number of vehicles sold by Toyota dropped to 8,692,168 units in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but increased to 9,615,157 units in 2021 before slightly decreasing to 9,567,184 units in 2022.
