Recently, Toyota Vietnam announced its business results for December 2023. In the last month of the year, the Japanese carmaker sold a total of 9,050 cars to Vietnamese customers (excluding Lexus), a 55% increase compared to the previous month. According to Toyota Vietnam, this is the highest sales month for the company in 2023.

In the past month, the “sales champion” of Toyota Vietnam was the B-segment sedan known as the “national car” Vios. Specifically, Toyota sold 3,022 Vios cars to Vietnamese customers, a 94.2% increase. This is the highest result that the B-segment sedan achieved in 2023. With this sales figure, the Toyota Vios is likely to become the best-selling model in the market in December 2023. Accumulated throughout 2023, the B-segment sedan achieved a sales figure of 13,521 units.

The second best-selling model of Toyota Vietnam in December 2023 was the Veloz Cross with sales of 1,670 units, a 49.6% increase. December was also the month with the highest sales figure for this MPV model throughout 2023.

In terms of sales volume, the third position was occupied by the Toyota Yaris Cross with 1,558 units sold. Compared to November 2023, the sales of this B-segment SUV grew by 42.6%. This is the highest result achieved by the Toyota Yaris Cross since its launch in the Vietnamese market in September 2023.

Throughout 2023, Toyota Vietnam sold a total of 57,414 cars to Vietnamese customers, a 37% decrease compared to 2022. This was not unexpected as the domestic auto market was quite sluggish in 2023 due to the impact of the economic recession.

In contrast to Toyota, the luxury brand Lexus experienced strong growth in 2023. Specifically, in December 2023, Vietnamese customers bought a total of 235 Lexus cars, a 45.9% increase compared to the previous month. Throughout 2023, 1,793 Lexus cars were sold to Vietnamese customers, an 18.7% increase compared to 2022. This is the highest sales figure for Lexus since the brand officially sold cars in the Vietnamese market.

Lexus Vietnam had a successful year in terms of sales in 2023

Starting from the beginning of 2024, Toyota Vietnam has attracted attention by reducing prices for 3 models: Fortuner, Raize, and Yaris Cross. Specifically, the price of Toyota Fortuner has been reduced from 63 to 120 million VND, now ranging from 1,055 to 1,35 billion VND. For Toyota Raize, the price has been adjusted to 498 million VND, reduced by 54 million VND, and has become the cheapest A-segment SUV in the Vietnamese market. The corresponding reduction for Toyota Yaris Cross is 80 million VND for the gasoline version and 73 million VND for the hybrid version. The new selling price of this B-segment SUV now ranges from 650 to 765 million VND.

With the new pricing policy and the above-mentioned promotion program, Toyota Vietnam’s sales in the pre-Lunar New Year month are expected to improve.
