Recently, Kevin Aziz Riad – a chauffeur had to pay a fine of 23,000 USD ($560 million VND) for causing the death of two people in a car accident in 2019 in Los Angeles, USA.

According to reports, in 2019, Kevin Aziz Riad was driving a Tesla Model S at a speed of 120 km/h. He ran a red light and caused an accident that resulted in the death of two people.

At the time of the accident, Kevin Aziz Riad had enabled the Autopilot mode on the Model S.

Initially, the driver was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but it was later changed to a fine of 23,000 USD ($560 million VND).

This incident led to the recall of more than 2 million Tesla vehicles. A significant number, including all Tesla cars currently operating on the streets of the United States.

The investigation showed that the Autopilot software control system is not capable of fully replacing humans, and drivers should not abuse it to avoid unfortunate incidents.

The electric car manufacturer Tesla has also committed to updating the software, fixing system errors, and advising drivers to be mindful when using the self-driving mode.
