A Girl Suffers 80% Scalp Tearing Incident While Her Hair Gets Caught in Go-Kart Engine.
According to The Sun, on her boyfriend’s birthday, 17-year-old Heloisa Cristina Heliodoro, who lives in Brazil, went go-karting with her partner. However, the joyous day for the couple turned into a disaster when a freak accident occurred with Heloisa Cristina Heliodoro.
Before participating in the race, Heloisa and her boyfriend were both provided with protective gear as required. However, Heloisa was not informed about the potential risks that could happen when she left her long hair loose down to her waist. Unfortunately, fate came to Heloisa when in the heat of the race, her long hair got caught in the engine.
“The girl’s hair got pulled by the go-kart’s engine, causing 80% of her scalp to be torn off,” said Elizabeth, Heloisa’s mother.
Things got worse for the girl when the doctors couldn’t provide immediate rescue. After the accident, it took 30 minutes for Heloisa to be rescued and taken to the hospital by medical staff, missing the crucial golden time for treatment. This caused severe damage to Heloisa’s scalp, making it impossible to stitch back.
Heloisa is waiting for a skin graft surgery. Doctors stated that it would take a long time for the girl to recover, and there is a possibility that her hair may not grow back. Additionally, she may need to undergo psychological treatment due to the trauma from the accident.
After the accident, Brasilia Karting Company, the race track owner, stated that they would fully support Heloisa in her ongoing treatment process.
