Recently, a Chinese electric car manufacturer has officially launched the Nio ET9, a large-sized sedan.
Accordingly, the Nio ET9 is developed based on the SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System platform. This chassis system integrates three elements: Steer-by-wire electronic steering system, Rear Wheel Steering technology, and the world’s first Fully Active Suspension system.
The Chinese car manufacturer stated that thanks to this advanced suspension system, each shock absorber on the ET9 is independently controlled by its own hydraulic pump and hydraulic components for a vertical mobility range of up to 50mm. As a result, the ET9 offers exceptional comfort that is hard to match by any other car models.
To demonstrate the performance of this suspension system, Nio placed a glass of water on the car’s hood. The car then continuously went through speed bumps, but the water in the glass did not spill, and the glass did not move.
In addition to testing the car’s suspension system, the Chinese car manufacturer also allowed four customers to experience the convenience inside the Nio ET9’s cabin.
Inside the cabin, the car is equipped with luxurious and modern features such as a 2m long central control panel, a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a rectangular-shaped steering wheel, a sunroof, and a heads-up display.
The ET9 also has a separate display for a personal virtual assistant named NOMI. This is also the world’s first car to use a 5nm system chip, providing superior processing capabilities.
The second row of seats is designed in the style of a business class airplane cabin, with backrests that can tilt up to 45 degrees, extra thick cushions, and 11 adjustable positions controlled by a single button.
Between the two rear seats, there is an 8-inch screen and an electronically operated smart refrigerator. Users can also comfortably browse the web, watch movies, and use entertainment applications on the 14.5-inch AMOLED screen on the front two seat backs.
The Nio ET9 is equipped with three Lidar sensors, one in the center and two high-resolution cameras attached to the front edges of the roof. In addition, the car is equipped with digital rearview mirrors.
Powering the large-sized ET9 sedan are two electric motors: a front motor and a rear motor. The front motor is synchronous and generates 241 horsepower, while the rear motor is a permanent magnet motor that produces 456 horsepower. Together, they provide a total power output of 697 horsepower.
The ET9 uses Nio’s third-generation platform, with a 900V structure, the first in China, capable of operating at voltages up to 925V. This allows the car to be charged rapidly with a maximum power of 600kW and a maximum current of 765A.
The car is equipped with a 120kWh battery pack with 46,105 cells, which enables the car to travel an additional 255km after just 5 minutes of charging. Like other Nio models, the ET9 also supports battery swapping in just 3 minutes.
In China, the ET9 has been released with a starting price of 800,000 NDT (about 2.7 billion VND). It is expected that the first cars will be delivered to customers in early 2025.
