On January 6, 2024, VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, announced a change in its leadership team as the company enters a new phase of development. Pham Nhat Vuong, the founder and Chairman of Vingroup, VinFast’s parent company, will transition from his role as Chairman of the VinFast Board of Directors to assume the position of CEO of VinFast, replacing Le Thi Thu Thuy. Pham Nhat Vuong will also take over as the Managing Director. Meanwhile, Le Thi Thu Thuy will transition from her role as CEO of VinFast to assume the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. The company also announced the appointment of Nguyen Thi Lan Anh as the new Chief Financial Officer, replacing David Mansfield.

After experiencing strong growth and achieving impressive business milestones in recent years, particularly the successful entry into the North American market and listing on the US stock exchange, the Board of Directors determined that it was the right time to restructure the leadership roles to prepare for the next phase of growth.

“I am proud of VinFast’s accomplishments. We have developed one of the most diverse ranges of electric vehicles in record time and successfully entered the global automobile market,” said Le Thi Thu Thuy. “With a strong manufacturing foundation, an increasingly expanding distribution network, and the support of a talented workforce, VinFast is well-positioned to accelerate its global expansion. I truly believe that VinFast will continue to thrive under the leadership and business acumen of Pham Nhat Vuong. I look forward to continuing to work with Pham Nhat Vuong and the leadership team in my new role to lead and drive VinFast’s continuous development.”

“While my title is changing, I will continue to interact with external partners and engage in VinFast’s fundraising activities. I look forward to further discussions with investors as we execute our ambitious development strategy. Lastly, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, I will also focus on fulfilling VinFast’s mission and ensuring the company maintains high governance standards,” added Thuy.

In his role as CEO of VinFast, Pham Nhat Vuong will directly oversee operations, including global production, sales, and market strategy. The Board of Directors believes that Pham Nhat Vuong is the most suitable candidate for the global CEO role at VinFast due to his invaluable experience gained from founding and developing VinFast. Pham Nhat Vuong also serves as the leader of Vingroup, the largest conglomerate in Vietnam with market-leading businesses in a wide range of industries spanning from industry, technology, real estate to services.

Pham Nhat Vuong, who previously served as Chairman of VinFast’s Board of Directors since March 2022, is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vingroup, VinFast’s parent company. Pham Nhat Vuong was the first Vietnamese billionaire to be listed in Forbes’ list of world billionaires in 2013.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, who now assumes the role of Chairman of VinFast’s Board of Directors, holds the position of Chief Executive Officer and Global CEO since March 2022. She joined Vingroup in 2008 as the Chief Financial Officer and was later appointed as the CEO of Vingroup and VinSmart. She stepped down from these positions in 2014 and 2021, respectively. She has been serving as the Chairman of VinFast and Deputy Chairman of Vingroup since the establishment of the company in 2017.

Lan Anh, who assumes the role of Chief Financial Officer, joined Vingroup in 2020. She has extensive knowledge of the company’s operations, including the production and supply chain, having served as the Deputy Chief Financial & Operations Officer and CFO of VinES Energy Solutions, Vingroup’s battery manufacturing company. She is also a longtime Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a Member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA).
