With an affordable price tag, the VinFast VF 5 Plus has many advantages to become the “national” electric car in the Vietnamese market.

According to the announcement on VinFast’s website, starting from January 1, 2024, the suggested retail price of the VF 5 Plus model will be increased by 10 million VND. Therefore, the new price of the VinFast VF 5 Plus will be 468 million VND (not including battery) and 548 million VND including battery. This policy applies to customers who place a deposit or purchase the car from January 1, 2024.

Despite the price increase, the VinFast VF 5 Plus still has a relatively attractive price compared to similarly sized gasoline-powered competitors. For example, the Toyota Raize has a listed price of 552 million VND, the Kia Sonet has a price range of 519-574 million VND, and the Hyundai Venue starts from 539 million VND, up to 579 million VND.

In addition, the VinFast VF 5 Plus also enjoys the government’s exemption from the first registration fee as it is an electric vehicle. Therefore, the on-road price of the VF 5 Plus, even when purchasing the battery separately, is comparable to its competitors in the segment.

Regarding VinFast VF 5 Plus’ battery rental policy, there is no change. Customers will have to deposit 15 million VND for battery rental and choose between two service packages: 1.6 million VND/month for mileage under 3,000 km or 2.7 million VND/month for mileage over 3,000 km.

The VinFast VF 5 Plus belongs to the A-segment CUV category, the smallest electric car line from VinFast in terms of dimensions: length, width, height are 3,965 x 1,720 x 1,580 (mm), shorter than its sibling VinFast VF e34 currently distributed in the market. The wheelbase of the car reaches 2,514 mm, superior to the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue but slightly smaller than the Toyota Raize. The VF 5 Plus has the advantage of a high ground clearance and large departure angle, allowing for versatile maneuverability in different terrains and urban areas.

Inside the VinFast VF 5 Plus, there are 5 seats and convenient amenities such as a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch center touch screen, and 6-way manually adjustable seats. Unfortunately, the car is only equipped with mechanical handbrakes and does not have an armrest.

Compared to gasoline-powered competitors, the VinFast VF 5 Plus has the added advantage of advanced driving assistance technologies such as cruise control, rear-cross traffic alert, blind-spot warning, traffic alert until the door is opened, reverse assist, and rearview camera.

Providing the power for the VinFast VF 5 Plus is an electric motor with a maximum power of 100 kW (equivalent to approximately 134 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 135 Nm. The vehicle’s battery pack has a capacity of 37.23 kWh, providing a maximum operating range of approximately 300 km.
