A bold experiment has been conducted to test the safety of the Zeekr 009 MPV model.
Zeekr 009 is a luxury electric MPV model owned by Geely Group – the same company that owns the Volvo brand. When announcing the Zeekr 009, Geely introduced it as one of the safest MPV models in the world with 30 default driving assistance technologies achieved through 12 short-range ultrasonic wave radars, one long-range radar, 4 panoramic 2MP cameras, and 7 HD 8MP cameras.
Not only that, the Zeekr 009 also has a strong frame thanks to the use of new technology materials and special structure. The A-pillar uses ultra-high-strength steel with a ratio of 71%, which is 10% higher than the highest level in the current industry. The rear body frame is made of a solid cast aluminum with a stiffness of up to 36,450 Nm/degree which helps the car have 3 times more stiffness than conventional MPV models.

To prove its claim, Zeekr conducted a test with a concrete mixer truck. This concrete mixer truck has dimensions of 10,380 x 2,500 x 3,998 (mm) and weighs about 30 tons. With its large weight and high center of gravity, this type of truck is often referred to as a “killer on the road”, as it is prone to tipping when cornering at high speeds.
Starting the test, Zeekr tilted the concrete mixer truck to a mini electric car. With its non-optimized design, the car was crushed.

As for the Zeekr 009, the MPV model had almost no significant damage, except for a crack in the windshield. The interior of the car showed no signs of impact on the head, neck, or back… Upon closer inspection, all doors could be opened and closed smoothly; the A, B, and C pillars showed no signs of bending, warping, or deformation. The car’s suspension system was able to operate normally even after withstanding a great force.

Even in real-life accident cases, the Zeekr 009 demonstrated surprising rigidity. Images of a collision scene that occurred in August 2023 between the Zeekr 009 and a tractor showed that the A-pillar of the MPV was extremely strong, capable of deforming the entire tractor trailer floor.

In China, the Zeekr 009 is positioned in the luxury MPV segment, competing with the Toyota Alphard. This model has a listed price ranging from 499,000 – 588,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 1.53 – 2 billion VND).
