The Mazda CX-70 was originally expected to be unveiled in 2023 but was later delayed until early 2024. The official launch announcement for the CX-70 was posted on Mazda’s website in Canada.
No specific details were shared about the new SUV model on Mazda Canada’s website, but during the presentation to investors, the Japanese automaker confirmed that the CX-70 is a two-row version of the CX-90. Enthusiasts hope that Mazda will tweak the design of the CX-70 to make it look slightly sportier than its “big brother” the CX-90.

In addition, leaked sources suggest that the CX-70 will share its powertrain with the CX-90. This means that customers in the United States can expect two different versions of Mazda’s 6-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. In the base CX-90 version, the engine produces a maximum output of 280 horsepower and a peak torque of 450 Nm, while the Turbo S version boasts a maximum output of 340 horsepower and a torque of 500 Nm.
Furthermore, the CX-70 may also be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, similar to the CX-90, which combines a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack, resulting in a combined output of 323 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. All three versions of the CX-70 will come standard with all-wheel drive.
