At this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition, Mugen will introduce 2 unique modified cars developed from the Honda Civic Type R prototype.
Mugen Motorsports is a Japanese company specializing in car modification and sports cars. The company was founded in 1973 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.’s founder, and his associate Masao Kimura.
Recently, Mugen announced that it will introduce two unique modified versions of the Honda Civic Type R prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 exhibition (taking place from January 12th to 14th), called Type A and Type B.
Starting with the modified Civic Type R – A, Mugen enhances this sporty hatchback with a more aggressive front splitter and air vents on the sides of the wheel arches. At the rear, the car is equipped with a new spoiler and a redesigned rear diffuser. Additionally, the side doors have been slightly upgraded.
Civic Type R – B receives even more powerful upgrades, including a carbon fiber hood and sporty air vents. The bonnet also features additional air outlets to improve aerodynamics, while the wide side sills give the car a more muscular appearance. At the rear, the car is equipped with a new spoiler and an upgraded rear diffuser. These vibrant design details give the Civic Type R a more “modified car” look, reminiscent of the JDM Civic models from the early 2000s.
These upgrades not only enhance the aesthetics but also improve the aerodynamic performance of the modified version, as Mugen carefully calculates every change made.
The upgrades are not limited to the exterior. Mugen is also developing new performance parts for the Type R. The new suspension system and 19-inch forged wheels, originated from BBS, are part of the modification package. Type A has a stainless steel exhaust and new brake pads, while Type B features a titanium exhaust, alongside brake calipers and new brake discs.
Inside, both modified versions will have a new Mugen branded steering wheel, sport seats, a new gear shifter, and carbon fiber trims on the center console.
Mugen will announce the prices for these modification packages at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2024.

Review of the “mobile room” for successful people
With a price tag of under 2 billion Vietnamese dong, it is very difficult to find a competitor who can “match” the Ford Transit from the MT Luxury brand, from its space, amenities, entertainment technology, to its ability to “blend in with the crowd” without attracting attention – a factor that many successful people highly appreciate.
