Not only are mass-market car models, but luxury car brands are also joining the race to reduce prices and offer pre-tax incentives to stimulate pre-purchase shopping in light of the gloomy overall Vietnamese auto market. Brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo are currently applying discounts of hundreds of millions of dong.

Mercedes, Volvo offer pre-tax incentives

In June, several Mercedes-Benz dealerships launched a program to offer a 100% pre-tax incentive for a range of car models, including the C-Class and the GLC, in order to stimulate purchases. Specifically, customers who purchase a Mercedes-Benz C-Class in June will receive a 100% pre-tax incentive worth 171-264 million dong, depending on the model.

In addition, buyers will also receive an additional 2-year body insurance, a 2-year factory maintenance package, and a bonus package worth 50 million dong.

In Vietnam, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is distributed with 3 models including C200 Avantgarde, C200 Avantgarde Plus, and C300 AMG. The listed prices are 1.709, 1.914 and 2.199 billion dongs respectively.

In addition, the popular GLC series is also offered a 100% pre-tax incentive for 3 models including GLC 200, GLC 200 4Matic, and GLC 300 4Matic. The GLC 300 4Matic Coupe model will not be eligible for this incentive. In addition, when contacting a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Ho Chi Minh City, sales consultants also indicated that the pre-tax incentive program only applies to the VIN 2022 batch of previous generation GLC models.

“This program only applies to the 3 models and the previous generation GLC batch. For other models, they will receive a cash discount according to the dealership’s policy and a bonus genuine accessories package,” the sales consultant added.

In Vietnam, Volvo Vietnam has also announced the program “Ultimate Experience, Premium Incentives” for all customers. The company will provide a 50% pre-tax incentive for the entire range of products. In addition, buyers will also receive a 1-year body insurance and a 3-year free maintenance package.

In Vietnam, Volvo distributes a total of 7 car models including the S90, XC40, XC60, XC90, and V6 Cross Country with prices ranging from 1.75-4.65 billion dongs. Specifically, the Volvo XC40 is priced at the lowest at only 1.75 billion dongs after the discount, reducing the price of this model to about 1.65 billion dongs.

BMW sets a new low price

Thaco Vietnam has announced price adjustments for BMW models several times since the official assembly in the country. Recently, many models crucial to the brand’s sales have been significantly reduced by hundreds of millions of dong to stimulate purchasing and clear stock of VIN 2022 cars.

In particular, the most prominent model is the pre-LCI version of the 3-Series, now reduced by many dealers to only 1.295-1.629 billion dongs for the old-generation model. Previously, when BMW Vietnam still imported cars, the prices of 330i M Sport models reached up to 2.5 billion dongs.

The new LCI models are also slightly cheaper by about 10 million dong compared to the manufacturer’s suggested price.

In addition to the 320i, the BMW 520i models are also heavily discounted in June. Specifically, the standard 520i version is priced at only 1.889 billion dongs, equivalent to a 320i. The 520i M Sport version is now reduced to only 2.299 billion dongs.

The BMW X5 is the model with the largest price reduction in June. Previously, the X5 xDrive40i M Sport version had a listed price of approximately 4.019 billion dongs, now reduced to 3.429 billion dongs, equivalent to a reduction of nearly 600 million dong. The xLine version is also reduced by 430 million, now only 3.739 billion dongs.
