The Wuling Starlight, as the first new energy sedan of Wuling, runs on plug-in hybrid drivetrain and was officially launched on December 6, 2023. So far, after 1 month of introduction, the Chinese automaker is selling the Hongguang Mini EV in Vietnam has announced the sales figures for this PHEV sedan.
Specifically, the Wuling Starlight has achieved accumulated sales of 18,294 units in the first month of launch, a commendable success. It is worth noting that 70% of sales come from consumers aged 18 to 35, showing that young Chinese people are really fond of the Wuling Starlight.
The Wuling Starlight plug-in hybrid sedan currently offers 2 models for consumers to choose from, with prices ranging from CNY 88,800 to CNY 105,800 (USD 12,400 – USD 14,800), or VND 288 million to VND 347 million. The pure electric version is expected to be launched in the first half of 2024.
The Wuling Starlight is positioned as a mid-size sedan with dimensions of 4835/1860/1515 mm and a wheelbase of 2800 mm. Fastback shape, 18-inch star-shaped wheels and semi-hidden door handles create a sporty atmosphere, while the windows are surrounded by chrome trim to add richness.
Regarding the interior, the cabin is equipped with a two-spoke flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch center control screen. The car’s operating system comes from Ling OS and supports navigation, remote control, OTA updates and Bluetooth.
Moreover, the front seats can be folded back 180° and connected to the rear seats to form a flat bed. The standard trunk volume is 540 liters and there is a 33-liter under-seat storage compartment. At the same time, there is no panoramic sunroof.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain of the Wuling Starlight consists of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and an electric motor, combined with DHT. The engine generates 78 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque, while the motor produces 130 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.
Two battery pack options of 9.5 kWh and 20.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate provide corresponding all-electric ranges of 70 km and 150 km; and a comprehensive range of 1,100 km. Fast DC charging is only available for the 20.5 kWh battery pack version and takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%.
