Growth is the general trend of the entire B-segment sedan segment in December 2023 thanks to the year-end shopping of Vietnamese people. In particular, the strongest growth must include the trio of Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City. Meanwhile, Suzuki Ciaz not only did not increase but also decreased its sales.

Sales table of B-segment sedans in December 2023 (unit: cars)
Toyota Vios: 3,022 cars
In December 2023, Toyota sold a total of 3,022 Vios cars to Vietnamese customers, a growth of 94.2%. With this result, the car model called the national car not only ranks first in the C-segment sedan segment but also dominates the entire market. At the same time, it is also the best-selling car model of the Toyota brand in the past month.
Year-to-date 2023, Toyota Vios achieved sales of 13,521 cars, a decrease of 42.5% compared to 2022, and ranked second in the segment, after the rival Hyundai Accent. However, this figure is still enough to help Toyota Vios enter the top 10 best-selling car models in Vietnam in 2023, ranking fifth. Meanwhile, in 2022, Toyota Vios was the best-selling car model in the Vietnamese market with a sales figure of 23,529 cars.
Toyota Vios
One of the reasons why Toyota Vios is no longer as popular as before may stem from the controversial design of the upgrade version. Introduced in May 2023, this version is only sold in Vietnam while cars in other Southeast Asian markets have been completely redesigned in terms of design and equipment.
Toyota Vios in Vietnam currently has 3 versions and prices range from 479 – 592 million VND.
Hyundai Accent: 2,752 cars
In December 2023, Vietnamese consumers bought 2,752 Hyundai Accent cars, equivalent to a growth rate of 63.2%. Despite the strong growth, Hyundai Accent lost the top spot in the B-segment sedan segment to the rival Toyota Vios.
In total, Hyundai Accent has convinced 17,452 Vietnamese customers in the whole year 2023, a decrease of 22.9% compared to 2022. This is not surprising because the Vietnamese car market continuously declined last year due to the impact of the economic recession. With this result, Hyundai Accent ranks second in the overall market, just behind the Mitsubishi Xpander. At the same time, Accent is currently the best-selling model of the Hyundai brand in Vietnam.
Hyundai Accent
Prices for Hyundai Accent in Vietnam range from 426.1 – 542.1 million VND for 4 versions.
Honda City: 1,503 cars
Not inferior to the above two rivals, Honda City also had a successful month in December 2023 with a sales growth of 70%, reaching 1,503 cars. With this result, Honda City is the third best-selling B-segment sedan in Vietnam.
The accumulated sales in the entire year 2023 of Honda City reached 9,894 cars, a decrease of 32.6% compared to 2022. However, this Japanese car model still made it into the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam in the past year, ranking 10th.
Honda City
Currently, City is the best-selling Honda car model in Vietnam. The business results of Honda City are worth noting as this car model has higher prices than most competitors, except for the Volkswagen Virtus, ranging from 559 – 609 million VND for 3 versions.
Like Toyota Vios, Honda City was also supplemented with an upgrade version during the lifecycle in July this year. In this version, the car is equipped with the standard active safety technology package Honda Sensing – a feature that both the Toyota Vios and Hyundai Accent do not have. In addition, the car also has another important upgrade, which is rear disc brakes.
Mitsubishi Attrage: 555 cars
Compared to November 2023, the sales in December 2023 of the Mitsubishi Attrage also grew by 30.5%. Specifically, in the last month of 2023, this car model achieved sales of 555 cars. Meanwhile, the accumulated sales in the entire year 2023 of the car reached 5,050 cars, a decrease of 29.9% compared to 2022.
Mitsubishi Attrage
The strength of the Mitsubishi Attrage lies in its attractive price in the segment, ranging from 380 – 490 million VND, and fuel-efficient engine. Meanwhile, the comfort and safety features of the car are just average, with nothing outstanding in the segment.
Mazda2: 524 cars
Similar to the above rivals, Mazda2 also improved its sales in December 2023 with sales reaching 524 cars, an increase of 62.2%. This figure brings the total sales of the Japanese car model in the entire year to 4,019 cars.
Mazda2
Mazda2 Sedan is currently also a budget-friendly car model, ranging from 420 – 524 million VND for 3 versions. In addition, this car model also has an attractive exterior design that suits the taste of Vietnamese people. However, the Mazda2 has a significant drawback of cramped interior space.
Kia Soluto: 100 cars
As siblings in the same group, Kia Soluto has a lower sales figure than the odd number of Hyundai Accent. In December 2023, this car model sold 100 cars, a slight increase of 5.2%. The accumulated sales in the entire year of Kia Soluto are also modest, reaching 1,055 cars.
Kia Soluto
Kia Soluto is not highly regarded by Vietnamese consumers in terms of design and equipment. Therefore, despite its low price, ranging from 386 – 482 million VND, this Korean car model is still not attractive.
Suzuki Ciaz: 1 car
Suzuki Ciaz is the only B-segment sedan model that had a decrease in sales in December 2023 with only 1 car sold. Compared to November 2023, the sales of this car model decreased by 75%. From the beginning of the year until now, only 37 Vietnamese people have bought this Japanese car model.
Suzuki Ciaz
Suzuki Ciaz has a rather unattractive design and only has 1 version with a price of 534.9 million VND. This is one of the reasons why this car model is not popular in Vietnam.
