In mid-December 2023, Kia officially introduced the facelifted version of the Sonet SUV in the Indian market. The pricing of this subcompact SUV was announced after a month-long wait.
In the Indian market, the new Kia Sonet comes in a total of 7 variants, including HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, and X-Line. The price of this model ranges from 799,000 – 1,569,000 Rupees (approximately 235 – 463 million Vietnamese Dong). Compared to the prices in Vietnam, which range from 519 – 579 million Vietnamese Dong, the 2024 Kia Sonet in India is considerably cheaper.

In the new version, this subcompact SUV has been improved in terms of design, convenience, and safety features. Specifically, the exterior design of the car has been enhanced with new elements such as the “tiger nose” grille, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, front/rear skid plates, taillights, and alloy wheels. Depending on the variant, the car will be equipped with 15-inch or 16-inch wheels.

In the Indian market, the Kia Sonet 2024 continues to offer 3 exterior design packages: Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line. The Kia Sonet Tech Line 2024 features distinctive front/rear skid plates and vertically positioned fog lights. Meanwhile, the X-Line variant has an exclusive Xclusive Matte Graphite paint color. Dark exterior accents such as the grille surround and front/rear bumper garnish also distinguish the X-Line variant. With the Kia Sonet GT Line 2024, the grille adds chrome accents as an extra highlight.

Inside the car, the Kia Sonet 2024 doesn’t undergo significant design changes but receives new equipment. Specifically, the car is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a display screen for the new air conditioning system. Other new details include two physical knobs for adjusting the air conditioning, an Electronic Stability Control and Drive Mode Select system. The car also features new seat upholstery material and front seat cooling function.

As for the safety features, the Kia Sonet 2024 in the Indian market offers a significant upgrade. The subcompact SUV is equipped with 8 new ADAS features, including Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Lane Following Assist, Low Beam Assist, Early Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, as well as Forward Vehicle Departure Alert.
In addition, the Kia Sonet 2024 also features a crucial safety upgrade – new rear disc brakes. Other safety features include 6 airbags, Hill-start Assist Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Electronic Stability Control, 360-degree camera, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Front Parking Sensors.

Under the hood, the Kia Sonet 2024 retains the previous 3 engine options. Firstly, there is a naturally aspirated 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine producing a maximum power of 83 horsepower. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Secondly, there is a turbocharged 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 120 horsepower. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Lastly, there is a 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine with a maximum power of 116 horsepower. This engine is available with either a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT), a 6-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Therefore, Kia Sonet 2024 reintroduces the diesel manual option to the Indian market.
