The Honda WR-V version for the Japanese market has nothing to do with the second-generation WR-V currently being offered in Southeast Asian markets including Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The car is imported completely from India, where the SUV is called the Honda Elevate. It is known that Japanese consumers who want to buy the new WR-V model will have to wait up to 8 months.
During the waiting time for the car, customers in Japan can admire the modified version of the Honda WR-V model displayed at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition. With the name WR-V Field Explorer Concept, the small-sized SUV is upgraded in appearance to bring a very rugged and sturdy look, suitable for adventure and outdoor enthusiasts.
With the “Ready Go Land” design concept, this modified WR-V has a new roof and grille with a prominent large HONDA logo. The standard 17-inch wheels have been reduced to 15 inches and wrapped in off-road tires.
Although the exterior has been upgraded in the off-road style, the WR-V Field Explorer Concept still uses a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine, generating a maximum power of 118 horsepower and 142 Nm of torque, combined with a CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive system (FWD).
In Japan, the 2024 Honda WR-V is distributed in 3 versions, with prices ranging from 2 million yen ($13,240) to just below 2.5 million yen ($16,550).
