With Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year) just around the corner, car manufacturers and dealerships are actively running heavily discounted promotions to attract customers. MG dealerships are no exception.
Currently, the price of the MG RX5 has been lowered at a dealership. In Ho Chi Minh City, for example, the MG RX5 STD variant is being sold for only 560 million VND, including insurance. The on-road price for this variant is only 640 million VND.
At other dealerships, the price for the MG RX5 STD variant is slightly higher, ranging from 580 to 589 million VND. The premium LUX variant is priced at 690 million VND.
In Vietnam, the MG RX5 is listed at 739 million VND for the STD variant and 829 million VND for the LUX variant. Therefore, the actual selling price at dealerships is hundreds of millions VND cheaper than the listed price. Furthermore, the STD variant of the MG RX5 is even cheaper than other B-segment SUV models like the Kia Seltos (604 – 714 million VND), Hyundai Creta (640 – 740 million VND), Toyota Yaris Cross (650 – 765 million VND), and Honda HR-V (699 – 871 million VND).
Introduced in Vietnam in September 2023, the MG RX5 is positioned in the C-segment SUV market. Therefore, it competes with strong rivals such as the Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Honda CR-V. However, due to its unattractive pricing, Chinese brand and origin, the MG RX5 has encountered difficulties in winning over Vietnamese customers. Consequently, dealerships have had to lower prices to attract customers.
The MG RX5’s name and exterior design are reminiscent of the luxury SUV Lexus RX. This can be seen in the front design, which features a large 3D grille that extends to the front bumper. Additionally, this Chinese-made car is equipped with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable trunk, and power-foldable/heated mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Inside the MG RX5, there is a 5-seater interior with leather seats, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a vertical 14.1-inch touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, and wireless phone charging.

Furthermore, this model lacks advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) found in its competitors. Instead, it only offers basic safety features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, front/rear parking sensors, tire pressure sensors, ABS with EBD, brake assist, electronic stability control, rollover prevention, hill start assist, and hill descent control.
The MG RX5 is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 168 horsepower and a peak torque of 275 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
