TC Motor halted the sales of the Hyundai Kona in 2022, but it continues to be a popular choice in the used car market. The depreciation rate of the vehicle is not too rapid. For the 2019 model year, the Kona 2.0 is offered by used car dealerships at prices ranging from just below 510 million VND, while the 1.6 turbo version with a more powerful engine is sold at a slightly higher price of about 20 million VND.
Some newer Kona models, such as those from 2021-2022, have prices around 600 million VND, which is equivalent to current B-segment SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, or MG ZS. The Kona’s exterior design still holds up well and remains stylish. Spare parts for the Kona are also not difficult to find.
Unlike the Ford EcoSport, the Hyundai Kona has a relatively low center of gravity and a larger engine displacement, resulting in solid acceleration and stability at high speeds. The Kona is equipped with various amenities such as heated seats, an integrated map entertainment system, hill descent control, hill start assist, a multi-function steering wheel with 3 driving modes, and 6 airbags.
However, the interior space of the Kona is not as spacious as the Ford EcoSport. The low height of the vehicle makes the second-row seating area quite tight, where the EcoSport has the advantage. The storage compartment in the Kona is also not very spacious.
The Kona’s cabin may not be visually appealing like current B-segment models, but it has a simple layout and intuitive mechanical button placement. The pre-installed entertainment system includes Vietnamese maps, but the interface is not visually attractive, which is not surprising as the car was developed to cater to customer preferences in 2018-2019.
