On January 18, Honda Vietnam Company (HVN) and Lotteria Vietnam (Lotteria) officially announced their partnership to implement the electric delivery vehicle project.

The application and transition to clean energy in business operations is always a priority for HVN. This is not only a positive factor for the environment, but also brings many strategic and economic benefits for the sustainable development of the company and society as a whole.

As part of the efforts towards carbon neutrality, HVN and Lotteria are collaborating to implement a project using 100 electric Benly e bikes for delivery purposes at Lotteria stores nationwide.

Carbon neutrality by 2050 is the strategy of the Vietnamese Government and also the goal that Honda Global aims for. In the process, Honda Motor aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 34% by 2030 compared to the fiscal year 2020.

HVN has been and is closely following the direction of Honda Motor in comprehensive solutions towards carbon neutrality, from promoting energy efficiency in production processes such as implementing rooftop solar power systems, efforts in environmental conservation through tree planting, to introducing HEV products in 2023. In addition, HVN has been and is promoting the preparation for the future of electric vehicles in Vietnam, such as renting electric PCX bikes through the HEAD system, and cooperating with VNPost in a project for electric delivery vehicles.

Based on the special requirements of the delivery service industry, which has a high frequency of vehicle use, HVN has chosen this transportation sector to pilot the project, with a premise to expand the transfer of green vehicles to the community. In 2022, HVN collaborated with Vietnam Post to implement the use of electric vehicles for delivery services and piloted a battery swapping model to explore feasibility in a business-to-business model through the transportation of goods.

Following the positive results achieved, in 2024, HVN will continue to expand this partnership model with Lotteria Vietnam. In a ceremony held on the morning of January 18, 2024, HVN officially handed over 100 Benly e electric bikes for nationwide delivery on the Lotteria system.

In addition to the optimized design for cargo transportation, compact size suitable for the traffic system in Vietnam, especially in urban areas, improving productivity and job quality for delivery staff, Benly e uses the MPP2 – a removable battery model currently used by Honda for electric vehicles in Japan, China, and Thailand, with better durability and a travel range of up to 72.8km.

Although the transition to clean energy still faces many challenges, electric vehicles are considered to have great potential in meeting the requirements of the transportation and logistics industry.

The transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles in this industry not only contributes to environmental protection by reducing emissions and air pollution, but also receives many economic and operational advantages for businesses. This is also a specific action that HVN desires to contribute together with the Ho Chi Minh City government in realizing the roadmap for green energy transition in urban transportation.

HVN and Lotteria expect this collaborative project to be a solid foundation on the path to clean energy transition, jointly implementing the Vietnamese Government’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, protecting the environment, and building a sustainable future.
