The Kia Telluride E-SUV surprises with a pre-tax excise price of nearly VND 2.7 billion.
The Ministry of Finance recently announced the excise tax rates for cars and motorcycles, applicable from November 6, 2023. In it, the E-SUV Kia Telluride with a 3.8L V6 petrol engine, fully imported, has a pre-tax excise price of VND 2.698 billion. Thus, according to the current tax schedule, the registration fee for Kia Telluride is VND 322.68 million in Hanoi and VND 269.8 million in Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, there is no specific information about the launch date of Kia Telluride in the Vietnamese market. At the end of 2021, Thaco displayed Telluride at its factory in Quang Nam province and announced that it would be sold by the end of 2022. However, the launch plan was later canceled.
Currently, the E-SUV segment in the Vietnamese market includes the Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Teramont, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and Hyundai Palisade. Among them, Palisade attracts the attention of customers due to its price not differing significantly from D-SUVs. Therefore, if Kia Telluride is priced at nearly VND 2.7 billion, this SUV model may not have good sales in our country.
Along with Kia Telluride, the list also reveals that the Suzuki Jimny has a pre-tax excise price of VND 789 million. This is also the price that many dealers accept deposits for this SUV model.

On the website of Suzuki Vietnam, official images of Jimny have been released with the words “coming soon.” In addition, the car has also appeared at most dealerships nationwide to prepare for display and product introduction.
Providing power for Suzuki Jimny in the Vietnamese market is a naturally aspirated 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. Notably, Suzuki Jimny is the only model in the small-size high-ground-clearance segment equipped with four-wheel drive, differential lock, multiple axle locking modes, and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The pre-tax excise price list also reveals the expected prices of Tesla Model S (VND 4.2 billion), Genesis G90 (VND 3.3-6.1 billion), Genesis GV80 (VND 2.69-4.759 billion), and Volvo C40 Recharge (VND 2.33 billion). Notably, although Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a selling price of VND 1.3-1.45 billion, the pre-tax excise price is up to VND 1.8 billion.
